Athletics Day 2008
Our Senior Athletics Day was fantastic. We had amazing weather and everyone really enjoyed themselves. We brainstormed our ideas in wordle (follow this link):

APPA Choir Performance
On Tuesday 4 November 2008 thirtyone talented children from PHS performed alongside 500 children in the 69th APPA Choir Festival. The children practiced their songs and parts all year under the watchful eye of Mrs Medland, assisted by Mrs Perese, Mrs Driver and Mrs Warner. Here is a short snippet of us performing:

Our Inquiry Learning - Cheetah Group
In our group we have Maeve, Jeshlyn, Lucy and Oceanic.
Our authentic task said: "Help! Some of the endangered animals at the Auckland Zoo have gone missing! It is your job to be an Endangered Animal Dectictive. A good detective will choose an endangered species and develop an action plan to lure it back to the zoo."
We chose to look at cheetahs. We researched a cheetah's ideal habitat, diet and facts. We made a powerpoint booklet of our findings. As a team we thought we worked really well together. We split into pairs and did our own slides and research. Next time to be better we need to share our ideas more, as some of us didn't pull our weight and let others do the work, to overcome this we could be tougher on each other.
We had to present our findings to the class and we are going to share our research with other year 6 classes. We also had to do a self-assessment on our research skills and how well we think we did.

Cultural evening
We are having a cultural evening at our school and there is going to be cultural foods, and performances and many fun things. we hope you can come and join us to see and feel how it is like being around with different cultural people. like our class we are very multicultural and it is fun mixing and mingling with other children.
Our Wild Animal Art
After visiting the Auckland Zoo, our teacher Mrs Kandasamy told us to make some art work. We had to sketch our favourite animal onto a large piece of A3 paper and then fill up the space with small square coloured paper and glue it down. For the borders at the top and bottom we used pastel patterns.
We hope you like our artwork.
Visual Language
Last week when Mrs Driver visited our class and introduced us to the world of Web 2.0 we did a visual language activity. We were interested in the activity "6 word memoirs" on http://voicesonline.wikispaces.com .
Our learning intention was to convey meaning by making a short 6 word sentence to match the image. This was really fun. Please visit the above wikispace to see our published ideas.

Our First Blog - being Cyber Safe
Mrs Driver has helped to set up this blog space for us so that we can share our last eight weeks as Year 6 students of our school. We hope to share some of our learning that we are currently doing and reflections on how we have felt being at our school.
Mrs Driver first had a discussion with us about being safe on the internet and to develop some blogging rules we checked out what other rules school bloggers used too.
We will:
